Literature in class

In the first 2 years, the focus is on building the basic knowledge of grammar and basic vocabulary.  Language acquisition is supported and extended by the reading of texts. In addition, reading enables smaller class discussions and promotes first encounters with the English-speaking cultural area.

In the following 2 years the pupils deal with more demanding texts. It is important for us to awaken interest in the history of literature but also to help students get access to literature and literary theories. To this end, literary works will be read that deal with the most important historical and social phenomena. In order to give the pupils an overview over the most important authors of English literature, different backgrounds, times, genres, and cultural aspects are focused on.
